STEP T-t-T is a 2.5 to 3 hour class intended to familiarize Region 1 staff, state, local, and private partners with the preparedness education STEP program and to prepare future instructors to teach STEP in New England classrooms. Attendees will learn about the details of this emergency preparedness education program and walk away with lesson materials and strategies for effectively teaching at the upper elementary level.

STEP will have trained over 30,000 students across the New England states, as well as in FEMA Regions II and V by the close of 2010. Learn more about how this program utilizes the powerful tool of education to change the way children- and their adult parents- think and behave around emergency preparedness. Future instructors and local program managers of STEP or other youth preparedness programs should attend. This course is also beneficial for those looking for effective presentation, group facilitation, collaboration, and overall communication skills.

  DBHRT Training
The New Hampshire Department of Safety, Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) has developed an organized team of behavioral health providers to respond to the behavioral health needs of New Hampshire residents following disaster (e.g. bioterrorism, man made or natural disasters). These teams will respond to disasters or critical incidents when local behavioral health resources have been depleted or are overwhelmed. The goal of the disaster behavioral health teams is to provide an organized response to individual victims, family members, survivors and disaster workers affected by critical incidents or disasters.
Teams include individuals with experience in human services, psychology, mental health, substance abuse, social work, psychiatry, education or spirituality. Currently we have over 600 team members who have received training. Team members operate under a team leader who is supervised by a Disaster Behavioral Health Liaison. These liaisons, one in the northern and one in the southern part of the state, are responsible to the New Hampshire Disaster Behavioral Health Coordinator. Team members receive ongoing training, monthly informational UPDATES and participate in community wide drills.
